Practice 8: Birth Registration
Register the birth of boys and girls as soon as possible, and obtain a birth certificate.

- Talk about birth registration and how it is done.
- Ask the mother if they have registered the birth of their child.
- Listen attentively.
- Appreciate if they have registered the birth of the baby. If not, ask them why.
- For example, lack of awareness about birth certification can be a reason, or family cannot afford the fees for a birth certificate could be another reason.
- Sensitize family on the importance of birth registration and certification for their child. Explain the method.
- For example, tell them that the birth certification is a proof of identity and is a legal requirement.
- Other government documents like NID card and passport will require birth registration.
